Actor Mel Gibson is being courted by production house Warner Bros to direct the sequel to the film "Suicide Squad".
"Suicide Squad" was helmed by David Ayer.
According to sources, Gibson is familiarising himself with the material. But the studio is also looking at other directors, Daniel Espinosa among them, reports hollywoodreporter.com.
The Ayer directorial, which released last year, featured actors like Will Smith, Margot Robbie and Jared Leto.
"Suicide Squad" told the story of villainous characters like Deadshot, Harley Quinn, the Joker, Captain Boomerang and Killer Croc, who are forced into the service of the government in exchange for lighter sentences.
