Lt Gen Gurdeep Singh on Thursday relinquished the charge of Chief of Staff, Western Command on superannuation after four decades of professionally enriching experience.
During his stint as Chief of Staff of Western Command, he was a harbinger of changes across the Command Theatre and Chandimandir Military Station, a defence ministry statement said.
He was commissioned into the Kumaon Regiment in June 1977.
An alumnus of the National Defence Academy and Indian Military Academy, the officer had a distinguished career spanning more than 39 years during which he tenanted various command, staff and instructional appointments.
On January 26, he was awarded Param Vashist Seva Medal for distinguished service of an exceptional order.
