Actor Sahil Vaid, who features as Varun Dhawan's on-screen friend in "Badrinath Ki Dulhania", wonders why there is always a difference drawn between a character actor and a lead hero when everyone puts in equal effort in a film.
Sahil played the character of Varun's friend in "Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania" as well.
Asked if he has any concern about getting typecast as character actor and then face difficulty to get lead roles in films, Sahil told IANS: "I do not understand why we have to face such comparison and difference. As an actor, we all have to put out equal effort and hard work to make a character convincing on screen.
"Irrespective of the fact that I am playing a lead role or character role, we all go through the same process and emotional turmoil. Therefore, I strongly oppose the idea of such categorization. Stop differentiating between character and lead actors."
Coming from a theatre background, Sahil believes that stage performance has given him the confidence to act opposite any superstar and that theatre is a great learning platform for any performing artiste.
Recently, Karan Johar, who has produced "Badrinath Ki Dulhania", was tagged as a 'flag bearer of nepotism' by actress Kangana Ranaut.
Asked about his experience of working with Karan, Sahil said: "Well, I am not from the film industry. Neither is our film's director Shashank Khaitan. Karan Johar gives an opportunity to everyone, including technicians. So it would be wrong of me to make such comment.
"Having said that, every parent want to support their children. There is no difference in star kids for that matter. It is not getting the first film, but about working hard to survive in the competition."
