Agriculture Minister Radha Mohan Singh on Tuesday hit out at the Congress for not ensuring a dedicated TV channel for farmers despite running the country for nearly six decades.
Speaking at the launch of the DD Kisan channel, inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on the first anniversary of the NDA government, Singh said it was ultimately the BJP-led government that had taken this step.
In apparent reference to Congress president Sonia Gandhi's foreign origin, he said this country was not Italy.
As long as each farm does not get water, every hand will not get employment, he said.
Officials said that the channel will telecast updated information on agriculture and related subjects and the target audience also includes those rearing cattle, bee keepers, poultry owners and craftsmen.
