Actress Charlize Theron, who seperated from actor Sean Penn last summer, says she doesn't understand why their relationship was sensationalised. She says the duo parted ways only because things "didn't work" for them anymore.
After Theron and Penn split, the virtual went into a tizzy with a rumour that she had been "ghosting" him before they broke up. However, Theron has opened up about what really happened between them.
"There is a need to sensationalise things. When you leave a relationship there has to be some f*****g crazy story or some crazy drama. And the f*****g ghosting thing, like literally, I still don't even know what it is. It's just its own beast," Theron told WSJ magazine, reports eonline.com.
"We were in a relationship and then it didn't work anymore. And we both decided to separate. That's it," she added.
Further explaining about their split, she said: "We were very, very new in a relationship. The stories that Sean was going to adopt Jackson, and all of that was not true. It's not something that happens in 18 months. You can't do that to a child."
