Designer duo Pankaj and Nidhi Ahuja's show at the ongoing Wills Lifestyle India Fashion Week (WIFW) autumn-winter 2014 was grand and easy to fall for.
As many struggled to find space in the show area, two Flamenco performers danced their way in. Once the Spanish dance that involves fast footwork concluded, models walked in with a backdrop of cards.
The shining black ramp looked freshly polished, so much that some of the models wearing sky-high heels almost fell while entering backstage.
Asked by IANS whether the stage was too slippery, Nidhi dodged the question.
But actress Neha Dhupia, who sat in the front row, was quick to comment on the collection. She bent forward and said: "I fell for the collection."
Glitches apart, the autumn-winter range titled House of cards, which was showcased here Saturday, was undoubtedly eye-catching and the hooting and applause during the show supports the fact.
It comprised house of cards gold embellished evening dress, Spanish royalty jacket with Jodhpur pants, liquid gold applique long dress, embroidered tuxedo-bib with silk shirt and draped pants, queen of hearts print dress and much more in colours like gold, black, white and green. Some of the printed dresses were even held together with
belts.
"The collection is close to us. It's majestic and grand," said Nidhi.
Explaining about the dancers, she said: "When we were thinking of performers, we wanted to capture drama and act of bullfighting and the dancers did justice to that."
