Election Commissioner H.S. Brahma Sunday said the poll panel will look into the alleged violation of the model code of conduct in Uttar Pradesh's Muzaffarnagar where certain candidates reportedly sought support on religious grounds.
"If it is so, then it constitutes violation of model code of conduct...we will see about that...we will look into it, " Brahma told the media here, responding to a query about reports from Muzaffarnagar that an organisation is breaking model code of conduct and using religion in their campaign.
Brahma said a helpline (1950) has been set up where the public can lodge complaints.
