FC Goa coach Zico on Tuesday promised to win the Indian Super League (ISL) trophy for the state, while also reminiscing about the tough challenges in the football tourney's maiden edition last year.
Former Brazilian superstar Zico was speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a programme organised by the ISL franchise in which players and the coach interacted with the students of Sharada Mandir school in Panaji.
"I always make it a point to remind my players about the expectations and prayers that people and our supporters give us. And as a result I promise that this year we will give our best in training and on the pitch and get the trophy to Goa," the 62-year-old said.
"My last visit here was one of the most memorable and touching experiences for me since I came here after a loss in the semi-finals. I hope I can make our team perform better this year and we can bring more joy and happiness to this school and state," Zico, who scored 48 goals in 71 matches for Brazil, added.
At the event, FC Goa midfielder Leo Moura and defender Gregory Arnolin played football with the students and also posed for selfies with them.
The Goa-based team currently tops the ISL table with 10 points from six games.
