A 30-year-old unmarried woman, apparently depressed over some family issue, hanged herself to death from a ceiling fan at her home here, police said Monday.
The incident was reported from Jafrabad area of east Delhi.
Poonam's body was found hanging from the ceiling fan by her family members when they broke open her room's door around 7.30 p.m. Sunday.
"The exact reason behind her extreme step is yet to be ascertained as no suicide note was recovered from her possession but initial inquiry revealed that she was upset over some family issue," said a police official.
Poonam is survived by her father Satbeer, a retired municipal corporation employee, mother Santosh, a sister and two brothers.
