A steady knock of 62 runs from Afghanistan captain Asghar Stanikzai ensured that his side notched up a fighting total of 153/7 against defending champions Sri Lanka in a World T20 cricket encounter at the Eden Gardens here on Thursday.

Shamiullah Shenwari was the other major contributor for Afghanistan with a 14-ball 31. For Sri Lanka, all rounder Thisara Perera returned figures of 3/33 from his four overs.
