BJP MP Hema Malini Sunday said she has written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to include river Yamuna in the proposed programme for cleaning river Ganga.
She said Yamuna should also be included in the mission to clean Ganga.
In her letter she said she had drawn the attention of the prime minister to the deplorable state of the Yamuna river, especially in her constituency Mathura, which is visited by lakhs of pilgrims round the year.
The actress-turned-politician said when she met the prime minister, she found Modi keen on cleaning not only the Ganga but all the rivers on a priority basis. Modi assured her of speedy action in this direction, she said.
After taking the oath in the 16th Lok Sabha, she came to her constituency for the first time to thank her supporters and voters.
She promised to solve the people's problems and get pending projects started for the development of Mathura.
