New Delhi, April 24 (IANS) BJP leader Yashwant Sinha has written to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh again saying his silence over his alleged involvement in the 2G telecom spectrum allocation scam will only confirm his guilt.
In his letter dated April 23, Sinha said his earlier suggestion to the prime minister for appearing before the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probing the 2G spectrum allocation was also rejected.
Sinha stated in his letter that former telecom minister A. Raja had earlier written to JPC chairman P.C. Chacko that the prime minister and prime minister's office (PMO) were aware of the decisions in the 2G spectrum allocation.
"He (Raja) has, therefore, dismissed the theory of the draft report of the JPC that he misled you (Singh)," Sinha said.
The JPC probing the 2G spectrum issue will meet Thursday to finalise its report, sources said Wednesday.
Sinha also named parts of the draft report saying that the prime minister's cabinet colleagues had disapproved of the stand taken by him.
"Is it not time, Mr. Prime Minister, you speak on these issues by appearing before the JPC? Your silence will confirm the worst fear of the people of India that you are fully involved in the 2G scam and if Sri Raja is guilty, so are you," Sinha said.
This is the third letter Sinha has written to the prime minister asking him to appear before the panel.
Sinha had written twice earlier to the prime minister over the issue. His last letter, which he sent to the prime minister April 1, made the same request.
The draft report of JPC, as per sources, negates the findings of the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG), saying that Raja had changed the cut-off date for the allocation of spectrum without notice, and this amounted to an irregularity.
