Youth dies after falling in open drain

A man died Tuesday after he fell into an open storm water drain here, a fire department official said.

The unidentified young man accidentally fell into a drain near the Hans Enclave, along the Delhi-Gurgaon expressway, 35 km from Delhi.

"Police and Municipal Corporation Gurgaon officials were informed, but no one came forward to help the victim," an eyewitness said.

There was nearly six feet of water in the drain as it was not cleaned for a long time.

Fire brigade personnel pulled out the body after an hour-long effort.
