Police in Madhya Pradesh arrested a youth for posting provocative messages on WhatsApp, an official said on Thursday.
"A youth named Aslam posted provocative messages on a WhatsApp group. The group's administrator lodged a police complaint in this regard," Pritam Thakur, officer in-charge of Jahangirabad police station, told IANS.
"Aslam was sent to jail on Thursday after an FIR was lodged against him under Section 188 of the IPC on the basis of the complaint and messages posted on WhatsApp," he added.
There is a ban in the state capital on sending provocative messages on social media aimed at disturbing communal harmony and inciting hatred.
The district administration has also issued an order in this regard.
