Zenit St. Petersburg extended their unbeaten run in the Russian Premier League this season to 11 matches with a resounding 5-0 win over Mordovia Saransk at St. Petersburg's Petrovsky Stadium.
After a goalless first half Sunday, second-half strikes from Hulk, Alexander Kerzhakov, Axel Witsel and Danny as well as a Mordovia own goal ensured Zenit retained their four-point league lead over arch rivals CSKA Moscow, reports Xinhua.
Zenit manager Andre Villas-Boas praised his team's 'fantastic' second-half performance and called for more of the same over the coming weeks.
Zenit will face CSKA in Moscow in a top-of-the-table round 12 clash Nov 1 and German club Bayer Leverkusen in a vital UEFA Champions League Group C match Nov 4.
The club's most immediate challenge, however, is a Russian Cup round of 16 clash with Arsenal Tula Wednesday.
