A backhanded compliment

At a recent press conference, D K Sarraf, chairman and managing director of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), was asked if he was hoping for compensation from Reliance Industries Limited (RIL) with regard to the alleged migration of gas from ONGC's KG block to RIL's KG block.

Sarraf said he had no comments to offer because the matter was under the consideration of the A P Shah Committee. "Interestingly, the media has access to all our files," he said. "Whatever we wrote to the Shah Committee has been published in the newspapers. Sometimes, when I need some information and I don't have the files handy, I search the internet and I have access to all the desired information (through media reports)."
