Rashtrapati Bhavan issued a cryptic press release on Wednesday night sacking Mizoram Governor Kamla Beniwal. The communique, issued at 8.35 p m, didn't use Beniwal's full name. It stated: "The President has directed that Dr. (Smt.) Kamla shall cease to hold the office…" Sources said the fact that her surname wasn't used in the press release was neither deliberate nor inadvertent. They said Beniwal herself never uses her surname, at least officially, and goes by her first name 'Kamla'.
