After Kapil Sibal finished his address at the 38th Shri Ram Memorial Lecture in the PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Siddharth Shriram, chairman of Usha International, gave his thank you speech and then gave Sibal a small gift in appreciation of his address. Sibal took the gift, saying, “I expected an embrace and you are giving me a gift.” Shriram replied, “We are not giving you something we make but something we use.” Turned out the gift, a school bag, was well chosen given so many of Sibal’s policy changes affect schoolchildren. A delighted Sibal said he would give the bag to his grandson.
