Much is being made of BJP leader Jaswant Singh’s absence from a meeting of “foreign policy experts” held by his party. When asked why Singh was not present, party General Secretary Arun Jaitely said, these days Singh was spending a lot of time in Rajasthan. However, Singh was very much in New Delhi but got the call just three hours before the meeting was to start. As several visitors were coming to see him, he called Advani to explain he could not come at such a short notice. But others in the party got a chance to take a dig at him and dwell on the anatomical details of the BJP’s prospective foreign policy (“we favour a ‘muscular’ foreign policy”). Everyone is waiting for the BJP and its dumb bells.
