The journalist has been telling all who would care to listen how the I-T Department has issued a notice to his four-year-old granddaughter to appear as part of an investigation. He says it is a deliberate attempt to harass him and his family. However, top finance ministry sources have a different take on the issue. They said that as much as Rs 25 lakh have been deposited in the bank account of the girl, and that the department issued notice as part of the Department of Revenue’s Financial Intelligence Unit investigation. All that the family needs to do, said the source, was to explain to the I-T department the source of the funds.
