Dancing MLA lands in trouble

Suspended Janata Dal (United) legislator Narendra Kumar Niraj has made a habit of landing in trouble - or, as some would say, dancing into it. Also known as Gopal Mandal, he was suspended last week from his party for saying that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's decision to ban country liquor was "politics of murder". Also, he has recently been charged with assaulting a man.

Now, a video has surfaced of Niraj dancing at a wedding in Bihar's Bhojpur district, accompanied by professional dancers. At the receiving end of barbs, he first said the video was fake but later changed his stance: "Since I am an artiste by birth, I couldn't restrain my emotions and danced with the girls." Of course: He has been associated with a Bhojpuri film, Khagaria Wali Bhauji, and is working with producer and director Kunal Singh on a film depicting the "love marriages of politicians".
