At the curtain-raiser of the Vibrant Gujarat Summit held at Delhi's Taj Palace hotel recently, the representative of a Chinese company stood up to ask a question of Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel since the state boasts of 24X7 electricity. As he began his question with, "We want to talk about electric power", there was a complete blackout in the hall, prompting the audience to burst into laughter.

When the power came back after a few seconds, the man was told it was someone else's turn to ask a question. When Gujarat Finance Minister Saurabh Patel gave the Chinese delegate a second chance to ask his question, he did not say anything about electricity and merely asked whether Gujarat had some special economic corridor for Chinese companies.
