On Wednesday, the Biju Janata Dal's Kalikesh Narayan Singh Deo was praised by senior leaders from across the political spectrum for his intervention in a discussion on the Pathankot terror attack in January this year. Deo, a two-time Lok Sabha member, attacked the government for its failure to appropriately react to the crisis.

As Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and Home Minister Rajnath Singh listened to the discussion, Deo criticised the failure of the defence and home ministries to take charge of the situation and questioned the centralisation of command during the attack with National Security Advisor Ajit Kumar Doval. When Deo finished his arguments, both Parrikar and Singh called Deo towards the Treasury benches and were seen shaking his hand.
