Letters: For correct judgements

It is laudable that the Supreme Court has scrapped the 99th Amendment of the Constitution and the National Judicial Appointments Commission (NJAC) on the plank that the judiciary should have the freedom to function independently without the interference of outsiders/politicians in the selection of judges. However, some of the verdicts pronounced by the judges, both in the lower courts and the apex court, particularly in cases relating to influential politicians, have given rise to doubts in the minds of the common man about their correctness.

But with the Supreme Court judgement on NJAC, the common man may expect more impartial verdicts from the courts, especially in cases involving politicians. This is especially required as a number of politicians are embroiled in the 2G scam, Vyapam scam, Lalit Modi controversy and rice scam in Chhattisgarh, among others.
