Apropos the editorial "Another step forward" (November 24), Prime Minister Narendra Modi's invitation to US President Barack Obama to be the chief guest at our Republic Day parade is a masterly stroke of diplomacy. Despite his shortcomings, there is no doubt that Modi is good at maintaining bilateral relations. As India surges ahead in economic development, the country has has to maintain good relations with a powerful nation like the US. Modi should use his good relations with Obama and the US to encourage American businessmen and corporations to invest in India, particularly in health care and infrastructure. Modi should also take this opportunity to invite medical professionals settled in the US to come and work in India.
