“All the PM’s men” (May 22) made several points about the performance of the UPA government in its first year. Few can disagree that infrastructure ministries have not performed very well, apart from the controversy over the 2G spectrum. What was surprising was that the list did not include Home Minister P Chidambaram. Most argue that his performance has been quite good. Raising the morale and training of paramilitary forces, particularly after they were starved of equipment for years, takes time, but anyone in the ministry will tell you the present home minister is doing a good job.
