The three-day national meeting of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Surajkund, Haryana, has removed all hurdles for party president Nitin Gadkari to get a second consecutive term. However, while talking about Gadkari’s first term as BJP president, former minister and senior BJP leader Vijay Goel confessed before all the members of the national executive that he had never heard of Gadkari’s name till the time he was made president. “I had never heard of Nitin Gadkari till two and half years back, when Nitin Gadkari became the president. When I went to Mumbai after Gadkari took over, people told me that Gadkari used to be the PWD minister and was responsible for making many bridges and roads in the state,” Goel told the gathering on the second day.
