Despite indications to the contrary, Sharad Pawar seems to have taken criticism of his extra-governmental responsibilities as head of the world cricket body to heart. At the Economic Editors’ Conference, he declined to talk at length about the five departments under him, providing a barbed explanation for doing so. “Despite all the media speculation you would have realised that I retain all my portfolios so for me to talk in detail about all the five departments under me would be extremely tedious and perhaps leave very little time for your questions,” he said pointedly.
