Minister for Road Transport and Highways Kamal Nath’s rarely misses an opportunity to air his grievances against Planning Commission strictures on public-private contracts for highway construction. Last week, he leveraged the forum of the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers convention to do so. Underlining the need to fast-track infrastructure development, he said. “There are two options before us today. Either we take the initiative and build more roads or we simply make more garages.” The implication being that the latter option looks more likely.
