All parents share the aspiration for higher education for their children. But few can actually go to the extent to which West Bengal Industry and Commerce Minister Partha Chatterjee has gone to fulfill his parents’ dream. Chatterjee, who holds additional charge of parliamentary affairs and the I-T department and is arguably the No. 2 in Mamata Banerjee’s Cabinet, has decided to pursue a doctoral (PhD) degree to fulfill his mother’s wish. The 54-year- old is one of the 1,100 applicants to North Bengal University, to write the entrance examination.
