As if praising Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi was not enough, the suspended CPI(M) MP, AP Abdullakutty, has now started praising the Muslim League — a party the CPI(M) considers to be communal. At a seminar in Kerala on Friday, the rebel MP said, “The role played by the League in checking the onslaught of terrorism is simply great,” and termed it as a mainstream secular party of the minority community. While the Left bosses are fuming, Abdullakutty, it seems, has taken a calculated approach to distance himself from the CPI(M). He is expected to contest the next Lok Sabha elections as an independent.
