In a veiled attack on the Prime Minister's "Start Up India" programme slated for launch on January 16, Congress spokesperson Jairam Ramesh said that was yet another example of a "repackaged" UPA initiative, just like Make in India, Skill India and Digital India. Ramesh put forward several suggestions for the government to implement as part of the Start Up India initiative and said while the Finance Minister and the Prime Minister could take credit for the proposals to encourage start-ups - the former through his blog posts and the latter through his tweets - it was Congress Vice-President Rahul Gandhi who took the first step and brainstormed with 30 entrepreneurs in Delhi and Bengaluru over the last two months. "He (Gandhi) gave his unstinting support to start-ups as hubs of innovation and as job creators for India's talented, aspirational youth," Ramesh summed up his argument.
