The ever-busy Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) found itself at the receiving end of a corruption scandal following complaints that two con-men posing as senior CBI officers – one of them even impersonating the director, CBI – were duping businessmen, corporate houses and builders in Mumbai and Gujarat of crores of rupees by promising to settle tax and other deals on their behalf. Both were subjected to lie-detector tests and are in jail.
