The new Haryana government has decided to review announcements made in the past few months by its predecessor, the Congress.

The decisions under review would include the re-employment of retired bureaucrats, fresh appointments in departments and welfare schemes declared by the Bhupinder Singh Hooda-led government.

This was announced by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in a press conference on Monday.

In his maiden interaction with the media after the cabinet meeting at the Haryana Civil Secretariat in Chandigarh, Khattar did not comment on the land deals involving Congress chief Sonia Gandhi's son-in-law Robert Vadra and a private real estate developer in Haryana.

"We had the first cabinet meeting and this issue was not discussed. We will meet again soon and I will discuss the course of action with you," said Khattar.

His cabinet colleagues on Sunday had talked about an inquiry into the alleged secret land deals in Haryana during the Congress rule. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) had accused the Congress of the deals and favours to a few during poll campaign.

The chief minister discussed other matters under consideration at the cabinet meeting. Khattar said the list of retired bureaucrats rehabilitated by the Hooda government was being prepared, adding "re-examination" did not imply all appointments would be cancelled. They would be evaluated on merit, he said.

The complaints in paddy procurement would be discussed in the next meeting as there were reports of price disparity in procurement, he said.

The Swachh Bharat Abhiyan would be rolled out in state on November 1, that coincides with the date on which Haryana was formed in 1966. Khattar said the focus would remain on slums and members of the legislative Assembly and ministers would be given the responsibility to implement a seven-day cleanliness drive in the state.

On October 31, Sardar Vallabhbhai Jayanthi would be celebrated as National Integration Day in Haryana and a run for unity would be organised. The Assembly session would start on November 3.
