Gujarat, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand have 26, 25, 4, 5 seats respectively and the BJP has won them all. Besides these states, the BJP had full majority in Goa (2), Andaman Nicobar (1), Chandigarh (1), Dadar & Nagar Haveli (1) and Daman & Diu (1).
Modi represents both Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh in Lok Sabha, but he is likely to give up Gujarat seat. It won 10 of 11 seats in Chhattisgarh and 10 of 12 in Jharkhand; both the states are Naxal affected. These states, too, didn’t find space on Modi’s list of 23 ministers.
Uttar Pradesh, where the BJP won 71 of 80 seats, has the maximum four cabinet ministers – Rajnath Singh, Uma Bharti, Kalraj Mishra, and Maneka Gandhi. From Bihar, the members are Ramvilas Paswan and Radha Mohan Singh.
Maharashtrain members are Gopinath Munde, Anant Geete and Nitin Gadkari. Sushma Swaraj, and Narendra Singh Tomar from Madhya Pradesh and Ananth Kumar from Karnataka have found space in the cabinet.
Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, Delhi and Orissa represent one member each. Rajya Sabha members Arun Jaitely and Smirti Irani from Gujarat were accommodated in cabinet. The rest were from Bihar, Madhya Pradesh and Karnataka.
Some states, however, were represented through minister of state with independent and without independent charge.
