NCP leader Praful Patel elected to Rajya Sabha

Patel, who represented Bhandara-Gondiya constituency in the 15th Lok Sabha, lost to Nana Patole of BJP this time

Former Union Minister and senior Nationalist Congress Party leader Praful Patel has been elected to the Rajya Sabha.

Today was the last date of withdrawal of papers for the polls, slated for June 19. Patel's was the only nomination, therefore he was declared elected, Vidhan Bhawan sources said.

Patel was fielded after NCP leader Tariq Anwar, who was elected to Lok Sabha, resigned from the upper house.

Patel, who represented Bhandara-Gondiya constituency in the 15th Lok Sabha, lost to Nana Patole of BJP this time.
