Nationalist Congress Party will contest, on its own, the forthcoming Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation polls, the party city chief Rajesh Soni said today.

"The NCP will contest the upcoming AMC elections and will field its candidate in all the 48 wards of the city," Soni told reporters.

"We have nominated 'ward-pramukhs' (chief of the ward) in all 48 wards to reach out to the people and to know about their problems," Soni said adding the ward-pramukhs will nominate candidates for the party from that particular area.

The civic body is presently ruled by BJP and the polls are scheduled to held later this year.

Soni said the NCP workers will make people aware about the "fake" promise made by BJP of giving 24 hours power supply and to provide good roads.

In the last AMC polls, Congress and NCP had contested as allies.
