Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal Friday said he is not working against the constitution and just trying to send the corrupt to jail by passing the Lokpal bill.

"I am not working against the constitution. I am just working to send the corrupt to prison," Kejriwal said.

His reaction follows the media reports that Lt. Governor Najeeb Jung has sought the solicitor general's opinion on the Lokpal bill that the Delhi cabinet has cleared.

The reports also said the bill needs to go through the Lt. governor's office and requires clearance from the central government before it is enacted.

"Now they are saying the Delhi assembly cannot pass bills and we need the approval from the central government. If we cannot pass a legislation, then why was the election held?" questioned Kejriwal.

Asking whether sending the corrupt to prison is against the constitution, he also took a dig at the Congress, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), the Lt.Governor and the solicitor general.

"The solicitor general has told the lt. governor that the AAP's Jan Lokpal Bill is against the constitution," the chief minister said.

Kejriwal has written to the lt. governor about this.
