Nothing finalised for Darjeeling LS seat between GJM, TMC: GJM

The Gorkha Janmukti Morcha (GJM) has not yet finalised anything on a tie up with Trinamool Congress for the Darjeeling Lok Sabha seat, which is presently held by senior BJP leader Jaswant Singh.

"Nothing has been finalised with the TMC (about the Darjeeling LS seat)," GJM General Secretary Roshan Giri told PTI here.

He said that he, party president Bimal Gurung and party MLAs would attend the tomorrow's rally by Trinamool Congress at the Brigade Parade Ground.

The GJM president and general secretary have received an invitation from the TMC to attend a meeting, with speculation rife that the parties might enter into an electoral understanding on the Darjeeling Lok Sabha seat.

The GJM would hold a meeting in Darjeeling on February five to decide if the party should field its own candidate or back any other political party in Darjeeling, said Harkabahadur Chetri, GJM MLA and central committee member.

Jaswant Singh had won the Darjeeling seat with the GJM, the dominant force in the hills, backing his candidature.
