Roadshow of bonhomie

Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Israeli counterpart Benjamin Netanyahu will visit Ahmedabad on Wednesday. The Gujarat government is gearing up for a roadshow by these two leaders. Several pacts will be signed between the state government and Israel during Netanyahu's visit. The roadshow, from Ahmedabad airport to Sabarmati Ashram, is similar to the one held during Japanese PM  Shinzo Abe's visit in September. Besides the Ashram, Modi and Netanyahu will visit the I-Create centre in Ahmedabad. Although details of the visit are not yet known for security reasons, Netanyahu will also visit Mumbai to pay tributes at Chabad House which was targeted in the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attacks on 2008.

Rahul's court date

Congress President Rahul Gandhi will appear in a court in Bhiwandi, Maharashtra, on Wednesday in connection with a defamation case. Addressing an election rally in Maharashtra ahead of the last Lok Sabha elections, Gandhi had accused the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) of killing Mahatma Gandhi. Soon after, an RSS activist filed a defamation case against him in Bhiwandi. A year later, Gandhi turned down the Supreme Court’s (SC’s) offer of quashing the suit if Gandhi would apologise. He stood by his remarks when he appeared before the court in Bhiwandi in November 2016. “I can now continue my fight,” he told Congress workers after he was granted bail. The SC had earlier reproached the Congress leader, saying: “You can’t make collective denunciations.”
