Prime Minister Narendra Modi Saturday reviewed the functioning of the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund (PMNRF) at a meeting here, officials said.
"(The) PM (prime minister) chaired a meeting to review the functioning of the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund. The PM suggested several qualitative changes in the way the fund is managed," said tweets from the official account of the Prime Minister's Office.
Modi also called for "selecting beneficiaries in a comprehensive, scientific and humanitarian basis, giving priority to children and poor", the tweets said.
The PMNRF is used for various schemes announced by the prime minister and also for relief during emergencies like floods and drought and other such incidents.
