The Special Cell of Delhi police filed the plea before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Amit Bansal saying Tunda's brain mapping test would help them in probing "grand conspiracies" being hatched by "forces inimical to the security and sovereignty of the nation".
It said Tunda has been examined by FSL experts from Ahmedabad and they have said responses being given by him were "very cautious and guarded" and its overall veracity was suspected. The police also said a detailed report from the experts is awaited.
"The whole terrorist network of his associates (Tunda) in India and Pakistan and their terrorist designs are to be unearthed. Since the formal report of the experts mentioned above will take some time in preparation and police custody remand period cannot be extended beyond the period mandated by the CrPC, it is requested that permission for conducting brain mapping test of accused Abdul Karim Tunda may be granted...," the police said in its two-page application.
The court would hear the arguments on the plea tomorrow.
70-year-old Tunda, one of the 20 terrorists India had asked Pakistan to hand over after the 26/11 Mumbai terror attacks, was arrested from Indo-Nepal border on August 16 and he is suspected to be involved in 40 bombings in the country. He is in police custody since his arrest in connection with various cases lodged against him here.
