Income tax officer-turned emerging politician Arvind Kejriwal on Sunday said that the results of the assembly polls in Delhi was a win for the people of the national capital, who were exhausted by the high levels of corruption and abysmal levels of administration in the city.

Interacting with media here even as the results of the polls were still coming in, Kejriwal said: This is a victory for the general public, for democracy. It is a win for India."

"This is not my victory; this is a victory of democracy, this is a victory of the people of Delhi," Kejriwal said, even as the people celebrated with gusto outside the AAP headquarters in Delhi.

The BJP is currently leading in three of the four states that had polls between November 11 and December 4. It is expected to get a majority in Delhi, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. In Chhattisgarh, latest reports indicate a close contest and outcome between the BJP and the Congress.

Vote counting is still on in the four states amidst tight security and the final results are expected to be announced later this afternoon.
