Amrita School of Business, Bangalore welcomed the incoming batch of 2011-13 today. The event was graced by Mr. Kalyan Kumar Banerji, Vice President, Mindtree.
Announcing the start of the academic year for the 2011 batch, Dr G Kalyanaram, Dean of Amrita School of Business said “Amrita School of Business is unique because it combines universal values of discovery of truth with reflective and active learning. The School is in renaissance phase now”. To corroborate the same he said “The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), US, and Amrita School of Business (ASB) are in the process of the accreditation. This distinction is held by a very select group of Indian Business Schools”. He also mentioned that a new courses in Financial Modeling, Sustainability and Health are being introduced for this academic session.
The new academic session witnesses the advent of students with the highest CAT percentile of 99.96% and average 81 percentile. Almost 55% students of the new batch are engineers. The other 45% have educational credentials in Arts, Commerce, Computer Applications, Dental Science, Law, Management, and Sciences. There are also entrepreneurs who have joined the batch to hone their management skills. Over 35% of the students come with a work experience of about 48 months with various industries such as banking and finance, IT and ITES, Automobile, Engineering, Energy and Dental care. The organizations they come from include Accenture, CTS, TCS, Infosys, HCL, WIPRO, HSBC, TITAN and others.
In the past Amrita School of Business has done exceptionally well in placing its students and has a track record of 100 percent placement of its graduates. Even during the economically challenging years, they have placed students well. Over 65 companies recruited on the campus in 2010-2011, the highest salary for the graduating class was over Rs.11 lakhs, and the average was over 6.0 lakhs per annum.
Brahmachari Abhayamrita Chaitanya, pro-chancellor, Amrita University, asserted in the importance of education for life than education for living and explained the value of incorporating values, tradition and culture in one’s life.”
Kalyan Banerji, VP, Mindtree addressed the students and asked “what kind of global leadership are you looking to provide India especially at a time when India is said to be becoming a super power and infact many people say Indian already is”.And what matters is how we as individuals contribute towards the process.
