Barclays Wealth, the wealth management division of Barclays PLC, today announces the appointment of Rahul Ahuja as Director. Mr Ahuja will be based out of Delhi and will be responsible for servicing and growing the private client base of Barclays Wealth in India, targeting specifically family business owners. In this role, he reports to Vishal Jain, Director, based in Mumbai.
Mr. Ahuja joins the firm from Standard Chartered Bank where he was a Team Leader for North India for the Middle Market segment within the wholesale bank. Mr Ahuja is a Chartered Accountant with over 14 years of experience, mainly in corporate banking and has also worked with GE Capital and Scotia Bank.
Satya Bansal, Chief Executive of Barclays Wealth India comments, “Rahul’s appointment is significant as we continue to expand our best-in-class client coverage team in India. We have been consistently looking for talent across the industry, particularly from corporate and investment banking to expand our team to cover the ultra high net-worth space, which is dominated largely by promoters in the large and mid-cap segment.”
Barclays Wealth now has more than 120 employees on board across offices in Mumbai, New Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai and Kolkata, and expects to increase its banker strength by 25-30% going forward.
