After a meeting with the officials at the office of the Chief Minister of Bihar, Dow Chemical International Pvt Ltd (Dow India) today announced a contribution of Rs 1 Crore towards providing relief and assistance to the victims of the devastating floods in Bihar. Dow India will also provide 3 water treatment systems which will convert the contaminated ground water into pure drinking water, fit for human consumption. Dow India’s assistance towards the Bihar flood relief comes at an opportune time, when various Government and other organizations have initiated efforts to support the numerous victims of the wide spread floods in the Eastern State of India.

While approximately three million people in Bihar have been severely affected by the floods, the current situation in the State has been termed as a national disaster by the Hon’ble Prime Minister. Dow India’s contribution of Rs 1 Crore will substantiate the relief efforts by the Government.

Commenting on Dow India’s contribution towards the Bihar flood relief, Dr Ramesh Ramachandran, president and chief executive officer, Dow India said, “At this moment of national tragedy, it is the responsibility of each section of society to step forward and provide all possible assistance to the flood relief initiatives.” He further added, “Dow India’s decision to render support to the Bihar flood victims emerges from the Company’s global commitment to work towards sustainability and overall progress of the societies in which it works.”

Dow India’s financial assistance towards the flood relief activities would primarily be utilized towards re-establishing infrastructure related to food supplies, shelter and medical.
