Intertek, a leading provider of quality and safety solutions serving a wide range of industries, organized a Compliance Practitioners Initiative (CPI) Certified Social Compliance Auditor program for practitioners and students associated with textile and apparel industry. The program was developed with a focus on Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) audits, which is becoming more important in companies across the globe to emphasize the notion of corporate accountability.
The four-day intensive training program focuses on all aspects of audits and is aimed at compliance personnel who have been working in the apparel industry, or for students who intend to work in the compliance domain in the textile industry. Upon successful completion of the training program, participants are awarded a joint certificate of “CPI Certified CSR Auditor” from CPI and City & Guilds.
Mr. Rajesh Saigal, Managing Director, Intertek India, said, “In today’s fast-changing global market, it is not only the quality of garments that is appreciated by retailers and manufacturers, but also the working environment of the organizations where their products are being manufactured. Retailers and manufacturers understand that social accountability helps to monitor and adhere to the global compliance guidelines, thus protecting and enhancing the image of a particular brand and ensuring accountability. This audit is therefore relevant to both new and existing players in the textile market.”
Mr. Dilip Gianchandani, Regional Director – Consumer Goods, Intertek India, said. “Exporters now understand the significance of social compliance as one of the most important factors contributing to success in the highly competitive global market. Social compliance can boost Tirupur textile exports even further.”
Established in the United Kingdom, CPI is a global qualification scheme for practitioners in the Testing, Inspection and Certification industry. CPI has developed a variety of cross-industrial and cross-functional certification programs specifically for practitioners in the supply chain business.
