Jaiprakash Associates commissions 1.75 MnTPA cement plant in Himachal Pradesh

On the auspicious day of Makar Sankranti, Jaypee Himachal Cement Grinding & Blending Plant, a Unit of Jaiprakash Associates Limited, was commissioned today. The State Level Single Window Clearance and Monitoring Authority had cleared the Project in September, 2004 and with other requisite clearances/approvals, the construction of the Plant was started in the year 2005 on this most difficult Project Site. During the construction stage, more than 1200 persons were deployed on the Project.

The Plant, having an annual capacity to produce 1.75 Million Tonnes of cement, shall help in overall development of not only the Region but also the entire State of Himachal Pradesh. This plant is providing employment to over 500 persons, besides generating indirect employment for a large number of persons.  For bringing the raw material and despatch of cement, a large number of trucks shall be needed. State exchequer shall also be benefited by more than Rs.100 Crores per annum on account of State taxes i.e. additional Goods Tax, Sales Tax, and Service Tax etc.

Unique features of plant include:

• Blending operation, for which WAMS  of Italy supplied the blender.
• Cement Mill came from KHD.
• Multi compartment silos were commissioned.
• Company has installed pollution control equipments to keep emission below 50 mg/Nm3.

With commissioning of Plant, many ancillary businesses like hotels, repair shops, diesel pumps etc., shall come up in the vicinity to support the operation of the Plant. The Plant will, therefore, prove to be a Boon to the people as well as State of Himachal Pradesh. Incidentally this is the first Cement Unit in Himachal Pradesh in last more than 10 years and with start of operations of this unit, the prices are expected to come down in the region.
