Larsen & Toubro (L&T) has secured Orders worth Rs. 581 crore from Powergen Infrastructure (L.L.C) and Bangalore Water Supply & Sewerage Board during the third quarter of 2009-10. This includes an EPC Order for the Material Handling Business valued at Rs. 392 crore and another order for the Water Business valued at Rs. 189 crore, respectively. These projects will be executed by the Metallurgical, Material Handling & Water Operating Company of L&T’s Construction Division.
The contract from Powergen Infrastructure is for setting up a coal handling plant at 5x660 MW Tiroda Thermal Power Plant of Adani Power in Maharashtra, in 30 months. This green-field project was secured against international competitive bidding. The scope of work includes basic and detailed engineering, supply and erection of mechanical, electrical & instrumentation systems, and structural steel works including testing and commissioning.
The contract secured from BWSSB includes fabrication and laying of mild steel (MS) pipeline. The scheme, funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA), envisages transmission of 500 million litres per day clear water from River Cauvery (Shiva Balancing Reservoir) to Bengaluru. The project, to be completed in 24 months, involves laying pipeline from Harohalli to Tataguni and Vajarahalli, along with associated civil work.
