Delhi CM Sheila Dikshit urges media, PR professionals to communicate more responsibly

Speaking at the Annual PR Summit 2012 organized by Public Relations Consultants Association of India (PRCAI), Smt. Sheila Dikshit, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Delhi said “The growing need for the media and PR professionals is to be more responsible on what and how they communicate to people at large.” The Chief Minister also made a point that; a lot is changing at an extremely quick pace even like, newer technology and the general growth of the nation and its people. Under such circumstances, it is important for communicators and the media to be as factual as possible. Ms. Dikshit further added “The media has become an important part of info for herself and her government along with the institutions governed by the Delhi state.”

The summit themed ‘Need for Speed’ saw some of the country’s leading minds exchange ideas and thoughts on today’s new age of communication and its changing forms. The imminent panelists included veterans from different fields like, Dr. Sanjaya Baru, Director for Geo-economics & Strategy, International Institute for strategic studies; Mr. Ranjivjit Singh, CMO, HP PSG, India; Mr. Sanjeev Lamba, CEO, Reliance Entertainment; Mr. Tanmoy Mukherjee, Head-Brand Integration, Lavazza India; Mr. Santosh Desai, Managing Director & CEO, Future Brands & Journalist amongst others. The summit took cognisance of the changed and still changing environment in which we communicate and how we relate to the publics. It also talked about the recent developments in the communications industry, while putting together the future of industry into perspective.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sharif Rangnekar, President, PRCAI, “I thank all the panelists and attendees for taking the time and sharing with us their perspectives and making this event such a success. At PRCAI, our endeavor is to create a platform for PR professionals to share thoughts, knowledge, and ideas, while establishing expertise to encourage and promote the progression of Publication Relation business in India. We will continue to organise informative seminars and knowledge sessions with speakers from across industries sharing their views on topics and issues impacting the Public Relations business.”

With this endeavor PRCAI initiated a platform wherein people shared views on the various aspects of communications business in India.
